VAT exemption for international-curriculum school tuition fees
Under Egypt's VAT Law No. 67 of 2016, tuition fees charged by schools teaching special curricula, including international curricula, are exempt from value-added tax. The exemption is defined by the type of educational service provided rather than by the nationality of the pupil, so it applies equally to Egyptian and foreign pupils. The law was issued on 5 September 2016 and took effect the following day, and this exemption remains in force for qualifying school fees.

Annual EGP 10.60 per-student government insurance contribution on school fees
Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority states that schools collect an annual EGP 10.60 contribution per student through school fees to fund a government student-insurance scheme. This charge took effect starting in the 2025/26 academic year and is currently in force. The authority's published statement does not indicate any nationality-based exemption, so the charge applies to all enrolled students, both Egyptian and foreign, at schools subject to the scheme.

Reported additional per-student fees for private and international schools, 2026/27
Egyptian media reported a Ministry of Education instruction introducing several new per-student charges for the 2026/27 academic year at private and international schools: EGP 10.60 for student insurance, EGP 5 for a fund supporting families of victims of military, terrorist and security operations, and two separate EGP 100 charges for interactive-education and digital-platform services. The underlying Ministry decision was not located in a publicly accessible primary-source document, so this measure has been reported by media but is not independently confirmed as implemented.

Mandatory Arabic, religious and social studies in international schools, KG to Grade 9
A ministerial decision issued in August 2024 requires international schools in Egypt to teach Arabic in kindergarten, Arabic and religious studies in Grades 1–3, and Arabic, religious studies and social studies in Grades 4–9 or equivalent years. In Grades 4–9, Arabic and social studies each count for 10 percent of the annual overall grade. This requirement took effect from the 2024/25 academic year and is currently in force for all pupils enrolled in these schools, regardless of nationality.

Arabic and history grading weight for international secondary certificates
The same 2024 ministerial decision extended national-subject requirements to the secondary stage, mandating Arabic, history and religious studies in Grades 10–12 or equivalent years. For international secondary certificates, Arabic and history each contribute 10 percent of the overall result through Ministry-organised examinations; for the American diploma, the combined Arabic-and-history component accounts for 20 percent. This secondary-stage element took effect from the 2025/26 academic year and is now in force for pupils in these grades, regardless of nationality.

Planned ban on late-stage transfers into international-school secondary years
Egypt's Ministry of Education announced that, starting in the 2026/27 academic year, transfers into the final year of secondary education at international schools will be prohibited, and 2026/27 will be the last year in which transfer into the second secondary year is accepted. From the 2027/28 academic year, entry to the secondary stage at international schools will be restricted to pupils entering the first secondary year. This measure had not yet taken effect as of the announcement and applies to all applicants regardless of nationality.

5 percent enrolment allocation for pupils with mild disabilities, International Public Schools
Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education clarified in March 2024 that International Public Schools, the government-operated international-curriculum school model, must reserve a 5 percent allocation above normal class density for pupils with mild disabilities. This is an inclusion requirement rather than a nationality-based cap on enrolment, and it remains in force for admissions to this school model.
