This document has been translated from Japanese. In the event of any discrepancy between this translation and the Japanese original, the Japanese version shall prevail.
Schoozy aims to be a platform where every family can find the right school through authentic voices of parents and current students. These guidelines set out the rules that all reviewers are expected to follow so that reviews remain a trustworthy source of information for choosing a school.
1. Who Can Post Reviews
Only individuals who meet at least one of the following criteria may post reviews on Schoozy.
- A parent or guardian of a child who is currently enrolled in or has graduated from the school in question
- A graduate of the school in question (limited to individuals aged 18 or older)
- A student currently enrolled in the school in question (limited to individuals aged 16 or older)
- Any other individual separately approved by the Company
When posting a review, you may be asked to provide information such as the year of attendance or the period of your child’s enrollment. Reviews posted under false eligibility will be removed upon discovery.
Reviews by Current Students (Ages 16–17)
The voices of current students are extremely valuable for understanding what a school is like right now. At the same time, we must also consider students’ safety and the impact on their school life. Therefore, the following rules apply when a current student under 18 posts a review.
- Parental approval is required: Reviews are not published immediately upon submission. An approval request is sent to the email address of the parent or legal guardian, and the review is published only after the parent grants approval.
- Parents may request deletion at any time: Even after publication, a parent may request that the Company remove the review.
- Enhanced anonymity: Reviews posted by current students are displayed with a higher level of anonymity than usual, so that neither the fact that the reviewer is a current student nor their grade level can be identified.
- No disclosure of identity to the school: Even if a listed school requests information about the reviewer, we will not disclose any information that identifies the reviewer to the school, except where required by law or court order.
2. What Makes a Good Review
Reviews that are helpful for choosing a school share certain characteristics.
Be Specific
Good example: “My child started with no English ability, and the school offered EAL support classes three times a week. Within six months, my child was able to keep up with regular classes.”
Needs improvement: “The English support is amazing.”
Be Fair
Mentioning both the positives and the areas of concern is most helpful for other parents.
Good example: “The quality of the curriculum is excellent, but the school bus routes are limited, so you may need to arrange drop-off and pick-up yourself.”
Be Current
Please indicate approximately when the experience described in your review took place. Schools change from year to year. If your review is based on an experience from more than three years ago, please state so clearly.
3. Prohibited Content
Posts containing any of the following will be removed without prior notice. Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
3-1. Posts That Violate the Privacy of Children and Students
Schoozy places the highest priority on the safety of children and students.
- Names of children or students (including initials)
- Information that, when combined with a class name or grade level, can identify an individual
- Detailed descriptions of a child’s or student’s physical appearance
- Photos of children or students, or information that could lead to their identification
- Private matters relating to a specific child or student, such as bullying, academic performance, or health conditions
3-2. Attempts to Identify Current Student Reviewers
Any attempt to identify the author of a review posted by a current student within the school, or any act of disclosing or spreading information that purports to identify such an author, constitutes a violation of the Terms of Service and is grounds for account termination.
3-3. Personal Attacks on Faculty and Staff
We welcome candid opinions about the quality of education, but personal attacks against individual faculty or staff members are not permitted.
OK: “Science classes had very few experiments and were mostly textbook-based.”
Not OK: “Mr./Ms. XX is incompetent and just yells at the children all the time.”
Factual references to the educational content or teaching approach of faculty members whose names are publicly listed on the school’s official website are permitted. However, posts that amount to personal attacks or defamation are prohibited regardless of whether the individual’s name is publicly available.
3-4. Astroturfing (Stealth Marketing)
The following activities may constitute a violation of the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations.
- Posting a review favorable to one’s own school while concealing the relationship, by school board members, faculty, staff, employees, or their family members
- Systematically posting unfavorable reviews about competing schools
- Posting a review in exchange for monetary compensation, discounts, benefits, or other consideration without clearly disclosing that fact, or requesting a third party to post such a review
3-5. Other Prohibited Posts
- Content that is false, or posts based solely on speculation or hearsay rather than personal experience
- Content that violates laws, regulations, or public order and morals
- Content constituting defamation, insult, or threats
- Obscene, violent, or discriminatory expressions
- Posts intended for advertising, promotion, solicitation, or commercial activities
- Posts related to religious activities, political activities, or election campaigns
- Harassment or stalking of other users
- Posting multiple reviews for the same school from different accounts
4. Moderation (Review Screening)
Schoozy reviews all submitted reviews either before or after publication.
Screening Process
- Submitted reviews are published after undergoing automatic filtering and manual review.
- Reviews submitted by current students under 18 are published only after undergoing the above screening process and receiving parental approval.
- If a review is determined to violate these guidelines as a result of screening, it will be withheld from publication.
- When a review is withheld, the reviewer will be notified of the reason.
- After receiving notification, the reviewer may file an objection (Terms of Service, Article 9, Paragraph 9).
Measures Against Violations
The following graduated measures will be taken depending on the severity of the violation.
- Minor violation (first offense): Request to revise the post or withholding of the post from publication
- Serious violation or repeated violations: Temporary account suspension (7 to 30 days)
- Extremely malicious violation: Permanent account termination
5. Responses from Listed Schools
Listed schools may post an official response to a review (Terms of Service, Article 9, Paragraph 10). The response will be displayed alongside the review. If the school believes there are factual inaccuracies in a review, it may use this response feature to provide supplementary information or corrections.
6. Amendments to These Guidelines
The Company may amend these guidelines as necessary. Amended guidelines shall take effect upon being posted on the Service.
