A defining moment came in 2004, when then-HRH Prince Charles officially opened BISR's Sixth Form, extending the school's reach to students up to the age of 18 and embedding A Level study as a core offering. Looking ahead, BISR's largest construction project — the Al Waha Campus — is taking shape on a 50,000 square metre site in Riyadh, set to become one of the most advanced international school facilities in the region upon its anticipated opening in 2025.

Admission to the British International School Riyadh is granted on the basis of academic and English language readiness rather than competitive entrance exams in the traditional sense. The school uses age-appropriate written assessments in English literacy and numeracy to gauge whether a student is ready to engage with the British curriculum taught entirely in English.

For younger students (Foundation/Year 1–2), the assessment is naturally light — focusing on basic communication, listening, and early literacy. In practical terms, this means families relocating to Riyadh at short notice can apply at any time of year, though popular year groups (particularly Years 7–9 at Al Hamra and DQ) may have waitlists. The school registers up to 20 students per year group on waitlists at the Al Hamra and Diplomatic Quarter campuses.
