Hua Hin International School is a relatively young institution, having opened its doors in August 2015 with a founding cohort of just 75 students. Established to serve the growing international community in Hua Hin — a popular resort town on Thailand's Gulf Coast — the school quickly gained traction among expatriate families and internationally-minded local families alike.

Key Milestones

2015 – Founding HHIS welcomed its inaugural class of 75 students, offering an inclusive international education rooted in the English National Curriculum. The school was established as a private day school catering to students aged 3–18.

2018 – ISQM Accreditation The school achieved accreditation under the International School Quality Mark (ISQM) framework, administered by the Education Development Trust, a leading UK education organisation. This milestone provided external validation of the school's quality and international standards.

2020 – IB World School Authorisation In February 2020, HHIS was officially authorised as an IB World School for the Diploma Programme (DP), enabling Years 12 and 13 students to pursue the globally recognised International Baccalaureate qualification. This represented a significant expansion of the academic pathway offered at the school.

2023 – Approximately 430 Students By 2023, HHIS had grown to approximately 430 students representing 36 nationalities, demonstrating strong growth from its 75-student founding.

HHIS offers a coherent, internationally-recognised academic journey from Nursery through to Year 13 (ages 3–18). The curriculum is structured across three distinct phases:

Phase 1: English National Curriculum (Nursery – Year 9)

The foundation of HHIS's academic programme is the English National Curriculum, providing students with a rigorous, structured British education during their formative years. This framework ensures alignment with UK educational standards and offers strong preparation for international qualifications.

Phase 2: Cambridge IGCSE (Years 10–11)

In Years 10 and 11, students transition to Cambridge IGCSE examinations, one of the world's most widely recognised secondary qualifications. The IGCSE provides students with internationally portable credentials that are accepted by universities across the globe.

Phase 3: IB Diploma Programme (Years 12–13)

Senior students in Years 12 and 13 pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), one of the most demanding and respected pre-university qualifications globally. HHIS was authorised as an IB World School in February 2020.

Language Education

Beyond the core curriculum, HHIS places strong emphasis on multilingual education:

• English is the primary language of instruction throughout.
• Thai is taught as a local/foreign language from early years.
• Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and French are offered as additional language choices from the middle years onwards.

Unlike many selective international schools, HHIS does not require an entrance examination, making it accessible to a wide range of families.

Key Admissions Features

Year-Round Intake Students are accepted throughout the academic year, not just at the start of the school year. This is particularly beneficial for expatriate families who may relocate to Hua Hin at any time of year.

No Formal Entrance Exam Student placement is primarily determined by age and an informal assessment of readiness, rather than competitive testing. The school seeks to understand each child's individual needs to provide the best possible support.

School Visit / Parent Meeting Following an initial enquiry, prospective families are invited for a school tour and/or parent meeting, allowing both the school and family to determine mutual fit before formal enrolment.

Application Process

1. Submit an enquiry/application form with an application fee of THB 4,000.
2. Visit the school and meet with staff.
3. Upon acceptance, pay an enrolment fee of THB 80,000 to secure the place.
4. Results/notification within up to 14 working days.

English Language Support A key pillar of HHIS's inclusive admissions is the availability of EAL (English as an Additional Language) support. Students who are not yet proficient in English are welcomed, with dedicated support programmes to help them access the full curriculum.

Sibling Policy The school offers a generous sibling discount: the 3rd child receives a 20% tuition reduction, and the 4th child onwards receives a 50% reduction — making HHIS particularly attractive for larger families.
