Students must earn 25 credits across subjects including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE, World Languages, Fine Arts, Technology, and Electives, plus one Online Course credit. Ethics and Values is a compulsory subject every year a student is enrolled and counts for 4 of those credits. University-bound students are encouraged to exceed the minimums, particularly in Math, Science, and World Languages.

The World Languages programme includes Chinese (Levels I–IV and AP Chinese), Korean (Levels I–II), and Bahasa Melayu. Students are required to earn at least one World Languages credit to graduate, and university-bound students are encouraged to complete two credits.

Younger children in K4–Grade 1 complete a short pattern and sequencing assessment on an iPad with staff assistance. Students in Grades 2–5 sit MAP Reading Comprehension and Math tests, while Grades 6–8 also provide a Writing sample. For Grades 9–12, the High School Principal reviews records and support needs alongside MAP and other assessments, plus a Writing sample.

Mid-year high school entry after the first two to four weeks of a semester may mean your child has to audit courses where credit cannot be retroactively awarded. Families considering mid-year entry to Grades 9–12 should discuss the timing carefully with the school before enrolling to avoid gaps in credits.

A place on the OIS waiting list is only valid for the school year you originally applied for. If a place does not become available during that year, families must submit a new application to be considered for the following academic year.
