The Riverside Success Story

Shrewsbury International School Bangkok's Riverside campus, established in 2003, rapidly became one of Bangkok's most prestigious international schools. Forbes Thailand reported that in the three years prior to 2018, the school had been forced to turn away approximately 75 children per year from its Early Years and primary programme — not because those children lacked qualifications, but simply because the physical capacity of Riverside could not accommodate them. The waiting lists grew year on year.

The Decision to Expand

In response to this sustained demand, Shrewsbury's leadership — working closely with Shrewsbury School in the United Kingdom — took the bold decision to establish an entirely new campus dedicated to primary education (ages 2–11). Rather than merely expanding the existing Riverside site, they chose to create a purpose-built facility in central Bangkok, ensuring that the new campus would have the physical infrastructure to deliver the same exceptional experience as Riverside from day one.

A 15-rai (approximately 24,000 sqm) site near the Phetchaburi/Rama 9 area of Bangkok was secured, and an investment of approximately 2.6 billion THB was committed to the project.

Opening and Leadership

In August 2018, Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus opened its doors. Amanda Dennison, who had served as Head of the Junior School at Riverside, was appointed Founding Principal — a role that recognised both her deep familiarity with the Shrewsbury ethos and her passion for early childhood and primary education.

The campus was designed with capacity for up to 744 students, providing significant headroom to grow. It opened with purpose-built, age-specific learning environments across all year groups, from dedicated soft-play gyms and outdoor gardens for Early Years children to specialist science, technology, art, and music facilities for older pupils.

Growth and Today

Within its first years of operation, City Campus quickly grew to serve more than 600 students. It has established itself as a distinct campus with its own vibrant identity, while maintaining complete academic and cultural alignment with Riverside. The school's defining structural advantage — that 90% of graduates proceed to Riverside with guaranteed places — means families benefit from an unbroken, high-quality British education from age 2 through to Year 13.
