The International Baccalaureate lists Sunway International School, Bandar Sunway as a private IB World School, authorised on 6 October 2016, with IB school code 007071.

Independent coverage and self-reported awards

An independent 2024 Tatler Asia article covered the school's November 2023 IBDP cohort and described it as outperforming the global average, placing it in the top 3 per cent worldwide; the article did not publish the school average, candidate count or pass rate.

In its own brochure the school reports Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Gold awards in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022. These are publisher-administered recognition items, not comparative measures of educational quality or academic outcomes.

What the published process requires

On the school's own admissions material, the process requires a Readiness Assessment in English and Mathematics from Grade 3 / Year 4 onward, while Sixth Form and IBDP applicants also require interview(s). A Sunway Cambridge International Programme leaflet printed in July 2023 stated that applicants for Years 7–11 completed a web-based Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4), assessing verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning, described as the readiness assessment. This is historical, programme-specific evidence and does not confirm the current test.

Reported results

A press report stated that, for the November 2023 IBDP cohort, an SIS graduate achieved 44 out of 45 and secured admission to Christ's College, University of Cambridge; the report describes admission, not confirmed enrolment.

An earlier 2021 report stated that six SIS Kuala Lumpur students and 14 SIS Iskandar Puteri students achieved a 100% IBDP pass rate. The two campuses were reported together with an average score of 36.15, so this statistic must not be treated as a KL-only result.

University destinations

The school's own university-destinations material names institutions but does not provide a dated cohort size, university-by-university student counts, or clear offer-versus-enrolment status for most entries. It is therefore not a matriculation table.

On 23 May 2026, SISKL hosted an MCS–SIS Expert Talk Series event on entering leading universities in the age of AI, with speakers from Magdalen College School, Oxford. Curriculum choice — confirm by entry year

The school may fit families seeking curriculum choice, as its own material describes Canadian (Ontario), Cambridge/IGCSE, IBDP and an MCS-led A-Level route. Because intakes differ by programme and grade, families should confirm which route is available at the child's intended entry year.

Fees are layered

Families budgeting for attendance should treat published tuition as incomplete: official 2025 fee schedules state that school-regulated uniforms, laptops, textbooks, calculators and other materials are not included. Tuition in the verified 2025 day-school schedules ranges from RM45,000 for Kindergarten to RM80,000 for Grades 9 to 11 / Years 10–11, before non-tuition charges.

Boarding is a practical option principally for secondary students aged 13 and above, with younger students considered case-by-case. The verified 2025 annual boarding fee is RM24,000, with a separate RM11,500 annual SIS House Meal Plan.

Families needing detailed specialist support should ask directly about staffing and capacity. The public materials confirm English support for non-native speakers and individual university guidance, but do not publish learning-support/SEN staffing, counselling headcount, school-nurse provision or a detailed anti-bullying policy.
