Tokyo IB Fees Span Two Distinct Pricing Tiers
Tokyo's IB fee landscape covers two markets rather than one price band. Independent international schools publish annual charges that rise with year group, commonly moving from roughly one and a half million yen at early-years level toward three and a half million yen or more by the Diploma years, before transport, uniforms, devices or optional trips. A metropolitan public high-school IB Diploma track publishes materially lower annual tuition plus a separate IB-related levy that declines across the three Diploma years.
First-year budgeting should include one-time application, registration and facility charges that independent schools list separately from tuition; in the examples reviewed these can add more than a million yen before the first annual invoice. Families should ask each school directly whether examination fees, uniforms and transport are included or billed on top.
