Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a relatively young institution by international school standards, yet its trajectory has been one of steady, deliberate growth anchored by a series of meaningful accreditation milestones.

Founding (2014)

The school opened its doors at the start of the 2014–15 academic year with a founding cohort of just 30–40 students and 11 teachers spanning both Primary and Secondary sections. Located at 2119 Moo 6, Airport-Lopburirames Road in Kuanlung, Hat Yai — just minutes from Hat Yai International Airport — the campus was purpose-built in a multi-storey format, eventually comprising buildings named 'England', 'Wales', and a larger convention-centre block called 'Scotland'.

Early Institutional Recognition (2015–2016)

Within its first year of operation, Bloomsbury joined the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) in July 2015, gaining peer recognition within Thailand's international education sector. This was followed in February 2016 by its registration as an official Cambridge Assessment International Education Approved Centre, enabling it to offer IGCSE and A-Level qualifications with full Cambridge backing.

Expanding Academic Credentials (2019)

In January 2019, Bloomsbury became an OxfordAQA International Centre, broadening its examination offer and reinforcing its British academic identity through one of the UK's leading awarding bodies.

Thai National Recognition (2021)

A significant milestone came in late 2021 when Bloomsbury received accreditation from Thailand's Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA), formally recognising the school within the Thai national quality assurance framework — an important credential for Thai-national families considering enrolment.

CIS Accreditation (2022)

The most prestigious recognition to date arrived in January 2022: full accreditation by the Council of International Schools (CIS), the gold standard for international school quality worldwide. CIS accreditation involves a rigorous self-study and external review process examining every dimension of school life, from governance and leadership to teaching quality and student wellbeing. This achievement placed Bloomsbury among a globally recognised community of world-class international schools.

• A-Level 2023: 100% pass rate reported.

Bloomsbury employs a full-time qualified nurse who works in partnership with Sikarin Hospital Hat Yai, a respected private hospital, ensuring prompt access to professional medical care for all students. Security guards are on duty at all times on campus, providing a controlled and safe environment.

Safeguarding

The school maintains a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy that covers emotional, physical, and social safety. Daily school lunches are provided by The Proud Holdings, a certified halal catering company. Meals are tailored to different dietary needs and include vegetarian options. Boarding students additionally receive breakfast and dinner, creating a fully catered residential experience.

Boarding Community

Boarding is available from Year 5 (approximately age 10) through Year 13 (approximately age 18), making Bloomsbury one of the few schools in southern Thailand to offer a residential option for younger secondary students. The boarding house is located on the 5th floor of the campus building, providing a secure and integrated living environment within the school grounds. Boarding students benefit from full catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and residential supervision.

Campus and Location

The campus is situated in Kuanlung, Hat Yai, Songkhla, approximately a 5-minute drive from Hat Yai International Airport. This highly accessible location is a practical asset for families who travel frequently or who are relocating to the region. The campus itself is a purpose-built multi-storey facility across several buildings:

• England Building and Wales Building: Primary and Secondary classrooms, science labs, ICT lab, art studio, music and drama studios, two libraries.
• Scotland Building: A 6-storey convention centre providing large-scale assembly and event space.
• 5th Floor: Boarding dormitory.
• Outdoor spaces: Swimming pool, sports fields, and playgrounds.

Co-Curricular Life

Beyond the classroom, Bloomsbury runs a structured Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme. Documented activities include the Young Entrepreneurs Club, Biology Olympiad Club, Knitting Club, Creative Writing Club, Reading Club, Yoga, Cricket, and Swimming.
