King's College International School Bangkok traces its roots to 27 September 2018, when King's College School Wimbledon — one of England's most celebrated independent schools — formalised a partnership with Prof. Sakorn Suksriwong of Chulalongkorn University and the Saha Group, a major Thai conglomerate. The ambition was clear: to transplant the academic culture and pastoral ethos of a top British school to one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic cities.

Purpose-Built Campus

The school did not open in rented or adapted premises. Instead, a purpose-built campus of over 70,000 m² was constructed on Ratchadaphisek Road (Ratchada–Rama 3), in Bangkok's Yannawa district. This allowed the school to design its facilities from the ground up — including an Olympic-size swimming pool, a 625-seat auditorium, state-of-the-art science laboratories, and dedicated early-years and Sixth Form centres. The campus opened in 2020.

Rapid Growth

Within five years of opening, the school had grown to approximately 1,600 students from 35 nationalities. The curriculum expanded steadily from Early Years upward, adding each successive year group until the first Year 13 cohort completed their A Levels in 2025 — a milestone the school described as marking 'a historic moment.' That inaugural graduating class of 35 students secured over 180 university offers from approximately 80 institutions worldwide, with 94% receiving an offer from their first-choice university.

Recognition

In 2024 the school received an 'Outstanding' rating across all categories in a British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection conducted by EDT, placing it among the highest-rated British international schools globally. Despite being a young institution, King's Bangkok benefits from the 150-year heritage of its parent school in Wimbledon. Who the School Is Looking For

The school is selective: all applicants undergo written assessments and interviews before a place is offered. The school is open to students from Pre-Nursery (age 2) through to Year 12 (with Year 13 entry on a case-by-case basis).

The Application Process

Families begin with an online application. This is followed by academic assessments appropriate to the year group being applied for — typically including English and Mathematics tests and a student interview. For younger year groups, the process is lighter. A parent meeting or interview may also be part of the process.

Fee Structure and Deposits

The application fee is 225,000 THB. This fee is non-refundable if a place is offered and accepted, but if no place is available and the student is placed on a waitlist, the fee doubles as a waitlist fee and is fully refunded if a place does not become available within 12 months. A separate 200,000 THB deposit is payable on acceptance of a place; this is refundable in full on graduation or departure. Annual tuition ranges from 616,000 THB (Pre-Nursery) to 1,063,000 THB (Year 10 and Year 12), with lunch, EAL support, ECAs, SEN support, and most materials included.

Academic Excellence Scholarship

For students applying to Year 10 or Year 12 in the 2026/27 academic year, the school offers the King's Bangkok Academic Excellence Scholarship. Successful scholars receive full remission of tuition and ancillary fees (uniform, device, exam fees, insurance, lunch) for the remainder of their schooling through to Year 13. On securing a university place, scholars may also receive up to 1,000,000 THB to support further studies. Applications are accepted between 6 April and 13 May 2026, with examinations on 7 June 2026 and results notified by 22 June 2026. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong English proficiency.

Waitlists and Availability

The school acknowledges that waitlists apply in certain year groups. Given that enrolment is approximately 1,600 and the school admits from age 2, popular year groups — particularly Reception and Year 7 — may have limited availability. Families are encouraged to apply early.

The school's sports infrastructure is a particular point of pride. A 50-metre Olympic-standard swimming pool anchors the aquatic programme. The indoor sports centre spans 2,800 m², accommodating basketball, badminton, gymnastics, and other indoor sports. Shaded outdoor recreational areas supplement these indoor facilities. Students compete in Football, Basketball, Swimming, Badminton, Golf, and Gymnastics, among other sports.

Performing Arts and Creative Arts

A 625-seat auditorium provides a professional-standard venue for school productions, concerts, and guest speakers. Music rooms, art studios, and drama facilities are fully equipped to support IGCSE and A Level study as well as co-curricular activities. The school runs Choir, Orchestra/Band, Drama Club, and Dance programmes.

Academic Facilities

State-of-the-art science laboratories support Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at both IGCSE and A Level. A Design and Technology studio enables hands-on project work. The school's IT infrastructure supports a digital learning environment throughout all year groups.

Phase-Specific Buildings

Curriculum Framework

King's Bangkok offers an unbroken British curriculum pathway from Pre-Nursery (age 2) through to Year 13 (age 18). The Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1–3 follow the national curriculum frameworks used at King's Wimbledon. In Years 10 and 11, students sit Cambridge IGCSE examinations, choosing from over 20 subjects including English Language and Literature, the three sciences, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and a wide range of humanities, arts, technology, and modern foreign language options. In Years 12 and 13, students pursue A Levels, selecting three or four subjects from a list of around 20, including Further Mathematics, all sciences, English Literature, Geography, History, Economics, Psychology, Business Studies, Physical Education, Design Technology, Art, Music, Drama, and multiple languages.

Teaching Philosophy

The school places, in its own words, 'equal emphasis' on academic achievement and the development of the whole person. Class sizes are capped at 22 (and lower in earlier years — 15 for Pre-Nursery, 17 for Nursery, 20 for Reception), enabling strong teacher–student relationships and personalised attention. All teaching is in English, delivered by native or near-native English-speaking teachers.

First Results

The inaugural A Level cohort graduated in 2025. Thirty-five students received over 180 university offers from approximately 80 institutions, including leading global universities. The school reports that 94% of graduates secured a place at their first-choice institution — a strong result for a school in only its fifth year of operation.
