The Phornprapha family, long-established Thai business leaders, provided not only the land adjacent to their prestigious Siam Country Club complex near Pattaya, but also a shared vision for creating a world-class educational institution in Southeast Asia. The collaboration was formally announced via a press release from Highgate School London, framing it as an extension — not a dilution — of the original school's 460-year heritage.

A Phased Development

The school is being built in three distinct phases, reflecting both the ambitious scale of the project and a commitment to quality over speed:

• Phase 1 (August 2026): Pre-Prep and Junior School opens for pupils aged 2–10 (Pre-Nursery through Year 6). This first cohort will establish the school's culture and set expectations for the phases to follow.
• Phase 2 (2027): Senior School opens for Years 7–13 (ages 11–18), bringing IGCSE and A-Level programmes to the campus.
• Phase 3 (2028/29): A Boarding House will open, transforming the school into a full day-and-boarding institution.

The Vision for Scale

At full capacity, the school is planned to accommodate up to 1,400 day and boarding pupils — a substantial community for an international school in Thailand. Rolling Applications, Rigorous Selection

Highgate International School Thailand takes a pragmatic approach to admissions: applications are accepted year-round at any point during the school year, reflecting the reality that expatriate families often relocate on short notice. However, the school is clear that it is selective — not all applicants will receive offers.

Age-Appropriate Assessment

The admissions process is carefully calibrated to the age of the applicant:

Early Years (Pre-Nursery to Year 2, ages 2–6)

The youngest applicants are assessed through a family interview, acknowledging that formal academic testing is inappropriate at this age. The focus is on understanding the child's development, the family's educational values, and fit with the Highgate philosophy.

Junior School (Years 3–6, ages 7–10)

A non-refundable application fee of THB 5,500 is payable on submission. Following assessment, successful candidates receive a conditional offer and must pay a THB 200,000 enrolment fee and a THB 100,000 refundable security deposit to secure their place.

For the 2026/27 academic year, scholarship applications had a deadline of 31 December 2025, though general admissions applications remain open on a rolling basis.

English Language Expectation

While no minimum standardised test score is published, all instruction is delivered in English and the assessments — particularly for older pupils — are conducted in English. EAL support is available, but families should expect that a certain level of English proficiency is needed to access the full curriculum from day one.

Scholarship Pathway
