Cambridge and Edexcel Pathways to University
Most published curriculum information for British schools in Japan centres on Cambridge International IGCSE and International AS/A-level, supported locally by the British Council's Japan exam centre. Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE and International A-level are also offered at some schools, though a public centre finder alone cannot establish relative market share. At the recognition level, Japan's national higher-education body accepts International A levels from Cambridge International, OxfordAQA, Pearson Edexcel and LRN as university-entry qualifications, while an AS level alone is not treated as sufficient. This does not mean every faculty applies identical subject, grade or language requirements; some ask for direct verification from the awarding board or set specific subject combinations. Families planning a Japan-based university route should check the target faculty's current admissions guidance before finalising sixth-form subject choices, rather than assuming board choice alone determines eligibility.
