How the school describes the process

According to the school's own website, applications are accepted on a rolling basis, though it recommends starting at the beginning of a semester. Assessments and interviews may be required, Grade 3 and above assessments run approximately 2.5 hours, and the school states its normal 2–3-working-day outcome timeline can be extended where ESOL or Learning Support review is needed.

A publicly posted IGBIS admissions job description indicates staff schedule assessments for applicants other than Preschool and Kindergarten, submit testing papers and school reports to Division Principals for a decision, and arrange interviews for successful applicants and their parents with Division Principals.

English-language placement

The school states that ESOL placement uses an interview and an English-language-proficiency assessment covering speaking, listening, reading and writing. ESOL has percentage caps by grade or division, is offered in Grades 1–8, and is not offered beyond Grade 8. No minimum qualifying score is published.

Size and nationalities

The school's own 2024/25 profile reports 416 students representing 27 nationalities, with 88 full-time faculty representing 19 nationalities. IGB Berhad's 2024 Annual Report, a group-published figure rather than independent demographic evidence, states first-day enrolment of 404 in 2023/24 and 501 in 2024/25.

Independent and third-party listings diverge from these figures. The Good Schools Guide profile, last updated March 2026, lists 540 students and 30 nationalities. A commercial school directory lists 650 students, 34 nationalities, Malaysian as the most common nationality, and a 40:60 local-to-international ratio, but its page shows no source date or methodology; that entry conflicts with the other roll figures and is treated here only as an unverified community signal.

The practical reading is that IGBIS is a comparatively small, multinational school, but the precise enrolment and nationality mix cannot be pinned down from the available sources. Families who care about exact community composition should ask the school for its current figures.

Day and boarding

The International Baccalaureate directory lists boarding facilities for one IGBIS programme entry and day facilities for its other listed programme entries; it does not provide a boarding-to-day student ratio. Families for whom this matters should confirm current arrangements directly.

Reported destinations for the Class of 2024

In its own 2024/25 profile, the school reports that 100% of the Class of 2024 graduated with a post-secondary plan: 50% entered post-secondary education or military service directly after graduation, 29% were awaiting admissions decisions worldwide, and 21% took a gap year. The source does not give the cohort size or clarify whether direct entrants had matriculated at a named university.

The school announced a scholarship cycle for 2026/27 opening in October 2026, with the public page requesting academic records, a personal statement and a teacher reference. It also advertised a 2026 Summer School and an IGBIS × Everton Football Club programme held in July 2026.

English-language support has a ceiling

Families seeking a continuous English-medium IB pathway can note that the school offers PYP, MYP, DP and CP. However, families needing substantial English-language support in secondary school should confirm fit early, because the school states ESOL is offered only from Grades 1–8 and is not offered beyond Grade 8.

Budget beyond tuition

Cost planning should include fees beyond tuition. The published 2026/27 schedule excludes meals, transport, uniforms, Grade 12 IB examination fees, certain activities, IT/software support, ESOL and Learning Support. ESOL and Learning Support are each listed at RM5,000 per semester when required.

Clarify boarding directly

Boarding is a practical point to verify. The school's 2024/25 profile calls it a day school, but the IB directory labels one programme entry as boarding, and no publicly posted IGBIS boarding residence, fee, capacity or admissions material was located.
