Growing Recognition (2005–2012)

The Rolling Admissions Model

Applications are accepted online throughout the year, subject to space availability. The application process requires submission of a completed online application form and payment of a non-refundable application fee of ¥30,000. Once the form is complete, candidates proceed to the assessment stage: this includes an interview in English with administrators, and for Grade 1 and above, age-appropriate entrance assessments covering English and mathematics. Kindergarten applicants undergo a play-based assessment. Parents also meet with school staff as part of the process.

All instruction at OYIS is in English, so a degree of English proficiency is expected, but the school provides EAL support for students who are still developing their English. Conditional offers pending language support arrangements are possible.

The Achievement Award: Targeted Selectivity

This merit-based award can cover up to 100% of tuition and is awarded through a competitive process involving an examination, essays, and an interview, held each January/February. Beyond the Achievement Award, OYIS offers a Community Support Financial Grant (CSFG) for families demonstrating financial need, subject to a commitment to contribute volunteer service to the school community.
