The DP, authorized since February 2016, prepares students for university entry with a combination of six subject groups, Theory of Knowledge (ToK), an Extended Essay, and the CAS programme.

Given Cameroon's status as a bilingual French-English nation, French plays a central role in AISOY's academic programme. French is taught as a language of instruction in a bilingual stream, and IB DP students may take French A (Literature) or French B (Language Acquisition) as part of their Diploma. Assessment Philosophy

The American International School of Yaoundé (AISOY) was established in 1964 under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State's Office of Overseas Schools, which supports quality educational opportunities for the dependents of American citizens employed abroad. From its earliest days, the school's primary mission was to deliver a rigorous, English-medium education to the children of diplomats, aid workers, and expatriate families based in Cameroon's capital.

Key Milestones

• 1964 – School founded to serve American and expatriate families in Yaoundé.
• 1996 – Program expanded to include Grades 9–12, completing the PreK–Grade 12 continuum.
• 2016 – AISOY became an authorized IB World School with the addition of the IB Diploma Programme (DP), complementing the existing IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).
