History of KIS International School

Founding (1998)

KIS International School was established in 1998 in central Bangkok, Thailand, with a mandate to deliver an internationally recognised, academically rigorous education to the city's growing expatriate and international community. From its inception, the school adopted the International Baccalaureate framework — an early and deliberate choice that would define its identity for the following decades.

Early Growth and IB Authorisation

KIS was among the early adopters of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) in Thailand. As the school grew in enrolment and reputation, it added the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and ultimately received full authorisation for the IB Diploma Programme (DP). The school's first DP graduating cohort completed their studies in 2010, marking a significant milestone in KIS's journey as a full through-school.

Campus Development

The Bangkok campus evolved over the years to support a growing student population. A significant milestone was the opening of the Arts and Design Center in August 2018, which added three visual arts studios, design and technology workshops, and a black-box performance space to the existing campus. This investment signalled the school's commitment to a well-rounded education beyond pure academics.

Expansion to Reignwood Park (2024)

In August 2024, KIS opened its second campus — KIS Reignwood Park — a purpose-built, 60-acre facility outside central Bangkok. This campus represents the school's most ambitious expansion to date, offering full IB day and boarding education from Grade 4. Reignwood Park features a 1,000-seat Performing Arts Center, a 1,000-seat Sports Arena, an Aquatic Center, a 9-hole golf course, and modern boarding dormitories. The campus is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and operates as an IB World School in its own right.

Today

With over 800 students from approximately 50 nationalities and a student-teacher ratio of 8:1, KIS stands as one of Bangkok's most established and internationally respected IB schools. Its dual-campus model now offers families a choice between day schooling in the city centre and a full boarding experience in a green campus environment.

IB Diploma Performance

KIS International School has built a strong track record of IB Diploma results that consistently outperform global averages. The Class of 2024 achieved an average score of 35 out of 45, compared to the global IB average of approximately 30. One student achieved the exceptional score of 44, demonstrating the ceiling of academic achievement at KIS.

The Bangkok Campus

Approximately 52% of students are Thai nationals, with the remaining 48% drawn from expatriate and international families.
