Rather than offering a standard international curriculum, New Day Learning adapts the UK National Curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with complex learning profiles, including autism spectrum conditions, dyslexia, developmental delays, and other special educational needs. This adaptation means that core subjects — literacy, numeracy, science, and social development — are taught using flexible, differentiated approaches rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Origins and Founding Vision

New Day Learning & Therapy Clinic was founded in 2019 by a group of experienced special-education teachers and therapists based in Bangkok. The founding team identified a significant gap in the city's international education landscape: while Bangkok has a large and diverse expatriate community, options for children with complex learning and developmental needs were extremely limited.

The Problem the Founders Sought to Solve

For families of children with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, developmental delays, or other special educational needs, securing a school placement in Bangkok that could provide both quality academic instruction and specialist therapeutic support was — and remains — a significant challenge. Mainstream international schools often lack the specialised staffing, small class environments, and integrated therapy services that these children require.

From Concept to Clinic

The concept for New Day Learning took shape in 2018–19, and the school opened its doors in 2019 on Sukhumvit Soi 85 in Bangkok's Phra Khanong district — a location accessible from the BTS Skytrain's On Nut station. The school was established as a licensed clinic under the Thai Ministry of Public Health, reflecting the integration of therapeutic services alongside its educational programme.

Growth and Community

Since opening, New Day Learning has grown to serve approximately 40 students from around 25 countries, reflecting the international character of its student body. The school's reputation has been built through word of mouth within Bangkok's expatriate and special-needs communities, and a waiting list is now a standard feature of enrolment — evidence of the demand for its specialist services.

From its inception, the school has placed great emphasis on family partnership. The founders believed that consistency between home and school environments is essential for children with special needs, and this principle continues to shape how the school communicates with and involves parents in their children's Individual Education Plans.

The Academic Curriculum

The school delivers an adapted UK National Curriculum covering core subjects including English/literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, ICT/computing, physical education, music, and art. For older students, a BTEC Level 1 Hospitality qualification is offered — a practical, vocational pathway designed to develop real-world life and work skills. A purpose-built Hospitality Training Café on campus provides a hands-on learning environment for this programme.

On-site therapeutic services include:

• Occupational Therapy (OT): Supporting fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities

Small Classes, Big Impact

Language Support

For students whose first language is not English, EAL (English as an Additional Language) support is provided. The school also offers Thai language classes for international students. Remarkably, the school has also introduced Braille literacy support for visually impaired students as part of its inclusive approach.

No Standardised Examinations

New Day Learning does not enter students for IB, A-Level, IGCSE, or other standardised international examinations. Instead, progress is measured against each student's individual IEP goals, making the school's academic culture one of personal growth and mastery rather than comparative achievement.
