ISC Research, an international-schools organisation, awarded Fairview International School, Malaysia its 2021 Teaching and Learning Award for a framework intended to ensure consistency and sustainability of teaching skills. This recognises a specific initiative and is not a general ranking of overall school quality.

Ranking claims come from the operator

The operator's 2025 annual report states that Education Advisers ranked the Kuala Lumpur IB Diploma Programme best in Malaysia for four consecutive years and in the top 1% of a global league table. The report does not provide the methodology or the underlying yearly positions, so this should be read as operator-reported third-party recognition rather than an independently verified conclusion about overall quality. A school describing its own standing is not independent evidence about itself.

The published process

According to the school's own admission page, the process includes a placement test and a discussion with the student and parents, with an offer issued within a week only if seats are available. Fairview does not publish an acceptance rate, application volume, or a year-group-specific waitlist policy.

A publicly hosted Kuala Lumpur application form requires applicants to submit three years of prior-school results in English and a school-leaving certificate or testimonial from previous school(s), translated into English.

What an independent listing adds

An independent school-directory entry for the Kuala Lumpur campus lists a placement test and interview assessment, a waiting list, and admission after the academic year has begun. It does not specify the assessment, the criteria, the affected year groups, or an availability date.

No government or education-authority record, accreditation or inspection report, or independent publication located in this search published an acceptance rate, a named admissions test, a language-score threshold, a priority rule, live year-group availability, or boarding-specific admissions criteria for the school.

Enrolment figures as reported by the operator

For the Kuala Lumpur campus, Fairview International PLC's 2025 annual report states 518 enrolled students, representation from 34 nationalities, and an approximately even split between students from local families and students from expatriate families. The same figures appear in a second copy of the report.

The school's website separately says the wider Fairview network has more than 2,000 students from over 65 nations. All of these figures come from the school and its operator; no independent source on the community composition was available.

IB Diploma results

For the year ended 30 June 2025, Fairview's operator reported that all Kuala Lumpur IB Diploma students passed and that the average score was 34.53. The source does not publish a candidate count, median, highest score, university-destination counts, or matriculation data.

University references

Fairview publicly names universities including the National University of Singapore and University College London beside graduate testimonials. It does not state the academic year, cohort size, student count, or whether these references are offers, acceptances, destinations, or actual enrolments, so they cannot be read as matriculation statistics.

Corporate changes

The 2025 annual report says Fairview International PLC acquired the Kuala Lumpur and Johor operating companies on 1 July 2024 and began trading on the London Stock Exchange on 11 October 2024.

Reported growth

In results published on 30 October 2025, the operator reported that student headcount across its two owned Malaysian schools was 727 as of 30 September 2025, up 4.9% from 693 in September 2024. It also reported 2024/25 revenue of £5.34 million, up 6.0% from £5.01 million. These figures come from the operator's own reporting.

Campus and programme coverage

Families seeking a full PYP–MYP–DP pathway should verify campus selection carefully. The operator's 2025 annual report says Kuala Lumpur was then the only Malaysian Fairview campus offering the IB Diploma Programme, while Johor, Penang, Ipoh and Subang are listed by IB as PYP/MYP schools.

Fees to confirm directly

Cost comparison requires direct confirmation. Fairview publishes an RM1,000 application fee and RM2,500/RM5,000 enrolment fees, but its publicly accessible official fee page does not expose current grade-by-grade tuition. The Hall of Residence page publishes RM12,000 per six-month semester plus an RM12,000 deposit.

Compulsory expeditions

The school describes MYP expeditions as compulsory and says they contribute to end-of-year MYP assessment. Families who prefer a programme with fewer required off-campus experiential components should ask for the current expedition calendar, destinations, risk procedures and costs.
