Formal recognition

The International Baccalaureate directory records Mont'Kiara International School as an IB school since 16 June 2000. The school also reported a six-year WASC accreditation following a review cycle that included a November 2024 visit.

Openings and waiting lists

For 2026/27 the school states that applications remain open from Pre-K Age 3 through Grade 12, while waiting lists had started to form in some unspecified grade levels.

An independent listing service similarly notes an entry assessment, a waiting list that varies by grade level, and the possibility of joining after the academic year begins; it does not identify the affected grades, waiting-list lengths or current seat availability.

How places are decided

The school does not publish an acceptance rate or annual applicant volume. Its stated priority rule is that when applications exceed spaces, it considers the application-submission date and the application-fee payment date.

A public application checklist titled 2021 requires a teacher recommendation for Pre-K3 to Grade 5 applicants, and for Grades 6 to 12 requires recommendations from a counsellor or school administrator, an English teacher and a mathematics teacher. It lists unconditional acceptance, conditional acceptance, waitlisting pending a space, and denial as possible decisions.

Assessments

The 2025-26 prospectus states that applicants in Grade 1 and above sit admissions assessments covering reading, writing and mathematics, and that applicants still acquiring English also receive an EAL assessment. It does not name a specific test or publish a required score.

The IB directory lists the school's boarding facilities as day only; no separate boarding-admissions route was found in the public materials reviewed.

Size and nationalities

In its May 2026 announcement, M'KIS reported more than 700 students representing over 45 nationalities.

An independent listing service lists 650 students, 55 nationalities and approximately 14% Malaysian students. That page does not identify the collection date for these figures, so the two sources are not directly comparable.

Instruction and format

The IB public school directory lists Mont'Kiara International School as a day school and gives English as its language of instruction.

Examination results

The following comes from the school's own material. M'KIS reported a 2025 IB Diploma average score of 34.4 out of 45. This is an examination outcome rather than a university outcome, and no candidate count was provided in the announcement.

University destinations

The school's official results page publishes named university acceptances but does not identify the year, cohort size, student counts, or whether students matriculated. The outcome should therefore be read as unspecified acceptances rather than confirmed matriculation.

Ownership change

The following comes from the school's own announcements. M'KIS stated that it would officially join Nord Anglia Education from August 2026.

Provision constraints

The school is day-only and does not offer boarding, so families requiring residential provision would need another arrangement.

The school states it can support mild learning differences but does not have facilities for moderate or severe needs. Families requiring intensive specialist provision should confirm fit and current capacity directly with the school.

For 2026/27, annual calculated tuition excluding SST ranges from RM36,520 for Pre-K3 to RM130,540 for High School, and listed SST can raise the applicable annual totals. This is a practical budget constraint rather than a quality judgement.
