What the accreditation record shows

JIS has been an IB World School since June 1, 1978, according to the International Baccalaureate. The Council of International Schools (CIS) re-accredited the school on January 18, 2022, and WASC accreditation is listed through 2027.

These are accreditation facts confirmed by the accrediting bodies. They indicate that the school meets those organisations' standards; they are not a comparative ranking and do not establish that the school outperforms alternatives.

What the evidence does not show

No current independent ranking from a comparable publisher was located in the reviewed search results; the strongest externally verifiable reputation evidence found was accreditation rather than ranking. Families should treat this section as limited: it rests on two accreditor sources, and the most recent item dates from 2022.

How entry is assessed

For Grades 3–10, the school says applicants take an online entrance test covering grade-level English and mathematics; applicants whose first language is not English also take an English-proficiency test. The evidence does not describe an equivalent online test for grades outside that range, and JIS does not publish an acceptance rate.

An external international-school directory states that applicants from Early Years 3 through Grade 10 undergo screening in English language, reading, mathematics and writing, and that waiting-list status depends on grade level. That directory does not give an assessment name, score threshold, waiting-list size, or date-specific availability.

Priority lanes and required documents

Admissions priority is documented by the school rather than inferred. Lane 1 covers eligible dependents of employees of the U.S., U.K. and Australian founding embassies and eligible JIS faculty dependents; within lanes, currently enrolled siblings and children of JIS alumni receive priority.

The school's admissions checklist says an application cannot be reviewed until the required supporting documents are complete. The checklist includes prior school reports, standardized-test records where applicable (examples listed include ISA, MAP, PSAT, SSAT and SAT), and confidential references for applicants who have attended school.

What the public roll data does and does not tell you

Indonesia's education-ministry register reports 229 students for the Cilandak senior-high-school unit, with student data updated July 4, 2026. That public record does not state admissions capacity, vacancies, application volume, or an acceptance rate, so it cannot be used to gauge selectivity.

Size and nationality mix

JIS reports more than 2,000 students representing over 70 nationalities school-wide. Its 2025–26 High School Profile reports students from more than 52 nationalities and lists High School nationality shares as Indonesia 35%, South Korea 20%, United States 14%, India 7%, Australia 3%, Japan 2%, and Other 19%.

The school's earlier 2023–24 high-school profile reported 853 high-school students from more than 47 nations, with shares of Indonesia 38%, South Korea 18%, United States 13%, India 6% and Japan 3%. These are published nationality statistics, not inferences about ethnicity or background.

Structure and language of instruction

The International Baccalaureate directory lists JIS as a coeducational day school with English as its language of instruction.

Public Indonesian Ministry of Education Dapodik pages were located for JIS sites, but their displayed pupil-count and class-group fields were blank, so no government roll-by-section or nationality data could be used to corroborate the school-published figures.

IB Diploma results (school-reported)

For the 2025 IB Diploma cohort, JIS reports 87 IB Diploma candidates, a 99% diploma pass rate, an average score of 35, 20% scoring 40 points or more, and 41% earning bilingual diplomas.

These figures come from the school's own High School Profile and were not independently corroborated in the evidence reviewed.

University acceptances (school-reported)

JIS publishes a Class of 2026 list titled 'University Acceptances,' including institutions such as Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Stanford University, University of Oxford, University of Pennsylvania and University of Tokyo. The list gives no student counts and does not establish where students actually enrolled.

Because acceptances are not the same as matriculation, this list shows where offers were received rather than how many students attended each institution.

What the small sample says

Three public parent-authored mentions across three sites describe broadly positive overall experiences; one of them also expressed reservations about administration and university-guidance support.

This is a very small sample spanning 2016 to 2024, and the more recent items are still over two years old. It is not a reliable basis for a general judgement about parent satisfaction, and should be read only as a handful of individual voices.

Campus redevelopment

JIS reopened its renovated Pattimura Elementary Campus on September 23, 2025. The Jakarta Post described the reopening as the completion of an approximately two-and-a-half-year redevelopment project.

This is the one item here supported by independent media; coverage of recent developments is otherwise limited.

Fees for 2026–27

The school's 2026–27 fee schedule increased the Standard Enrollment Guarantee Fee to IDR 32,250,000 from IDR 30,970,000 in 2025–26, and lists High School tuition as IDR 532,384,000 for 2026–27. These figures are published by the school.

Day school, not boarding

JIS states that it does not currently offer boarding, so it is a day-school option. Families seeking residential accommodation would need to make separate arrangements.

Language and learning-support fit

The school says admission is contingent on a match between a student's needs and available services. Its English-as-an-additional-language programme carries a one-time fee of IDR 89,148,000 when required by school assessment, so families should confirm support fit and any added cost before applying.

Commute and transport cost

JIS operates buses with Blue Bird Group across 43 Jakarta areas but says travel times vary by residence. Annual bus fees range from IDR 61,880,000 to IDR 69,500,000 depending on grade and payment date, so location and transport cost are worth checking in advance.
