A Decade of Rapid Growth

ACS Doha International School opened its doors in 2011 in the Al Gharrafa district of Doha, backed by the heritage of the ACS International Schools network — a group with roots stretching back to the United Kingdom in 1967. From the outset, the school attracted a diverse international community, and enrolment grew quickly.

The New Campus Journey

By the late 2010s it was clear that a purpose-built facility was needed. ACS entered a partnership with Al Jaber Group, one of Qatar's leading construction conglomerates, to design and build a flagship campus in the Al Kheesa district of northern Doha. The project broke ground around 2018 and was completed in time for the August 2020 school year.

The result was a state-of-the-art 60,000 sq m campus housing:

• Separate Primary, Middle, and High School buildings
• Three libraries (one per school division)
• Dedicated science laboratories
• A high-tech theatre and drama/music studios
• A 25-metre swimming pool
• An all-weather athletics track
• An esports and innovation centre
• Maker spaces equipped with 3D printers and laser cutters

IB Authorisation and Accreditation Milestones

• November 2013 — IB World School authorisation (DP programme)
• 2022 — NEASC international accreditation awarded (6-year term)
• February 2026 — NEASC accreditation renewed

The NEASC visiting committee praised the school's student-centred learning environment and its clear guiding statements, noting that ACS Doha's mission and vision remain firmly relevant in a rapidly changing world.

Artemis Education Era

ACS Doha now operates under the Artemis Education umbrella, a UK-based education investment group. This ownership structure has supported continued capital investment and maintained the school's alignment with international best practices, positioning it as one of Qatar's most recognised international schools heading into its second decade.

Academic Curriculum and Culture

ACS Doha is one of the few schools in Qatar to offer the complete IB continuum — Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) — from Pre-K3 through Grade 12. Alongside IB, the school provides Advanced Placement (AP) courses and a recognised US High School Diploma, giving graduates flexibility in university applications worldwide.

Core Requirements

All DP students must complete Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) programme — requirements that develop critical thinking, independent research, and community engagement beyond the classroom.

Academic Outcomes

In 2021, ACS Doha achieved a 100% IB pass rate, with a highest score of 41 and an average of 33 — in line with the global average at the time. University acceptance is effectively 100%: the Class of 2022 (42 graduates) and Class of 2023 (69 graduates) all proceeded to higher education, attending institutions across the US, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, and Qatar, including selective schools such as UC Berkeley, Northwestern University, University College London, and Georgetown University.

Campus and Facilities

Opened in August 2020, the ACS Doha campus in Al Kheesa is a purpose-built facility spanning approximately 60,000 square metres, designed to support 21st-century learning across all year groups from Pre-K3 to Grade 12.

Design Philosophy

The campus was conceived to maximise natural light and ventilation, creating an environment that supports student wellbeing as well as academic focus. Separate buildings for the Primary, Middle, and High School sections help create age-appropriate communities while sharing premium shared facilities.

The campus is located in the developing Al Kheesa district of northern Doha, approximately 30 minutes by car from Hamad International Airport, with a school bus network covering major residential areas across the city.

ACS Doha serves approximately 900 students representing more than 72 nationalities, making it one of the most internationally diverse schools in Qatar. This diversity is not incidental — it is central to the school's identity and educational approach.

Language as a Community Asset

While English is the sole language of instruction, the school recognises the linguistic wealth of its community through a comprehensive modern languages programme:

• Arabic — compulsory for Qatari nationals; non-speaker Arabic classes available from KG1 to Grade 11

Staff Scholarship Programme

To sustain student diversity and attract quality educators, ACS Doha allocates full-tuition scholarships equivalent to approximately 5% of total enrolment for children of teaching staff. This initiative both rewards educators and helps maintain a breadth of nationalities and backgrounds in the student body — an unusual and distinctive programme.
